Don't worry about it. I got it back and that's all that matters. But I can't imagine grounding him is going well, unless you figured out a way to power him down. Or penned him in somehow.

He's busy with the upgrades in the house, at least. If I keep him in one area he generally does alright.

How've you been?

Considering where we are? Not bad. Wishing I could figure out a way to save as much of the good coffee I get from the cafeteria on Thursdays as possible.

[ Missing home no less than the day they met, but she's mostly gotten the food-triggered crying under control at least. ]

Busy giving out gifts. The usual.

I find that my list is getting longer. Not that I'm complaining, but it's funny and reminds me of holidays, when you have to figure out which card goes to which household.

To be fair, it could be a holiday here and we don't even know it. It's not like we have a calendar or anything.

Do you give them out a lot?

I give them out often enough?

My partner and I give each other gifts often, so it kind of just ... follows naturally that I go and get gifts for everyone around the same time.

[ Hold up. ]

You have a partner here? Like a romantic one, or a business one?

Both, I guess? We worked for the same organization back home.

You're lucky, having someone from home here with you. Did the romantic part start there, too?

I am, yeah.

And I think we always had some sort of affection for each other. It was just revealed here.

We were busy at work, all the time. [ understatement of the year; the correct response is "we were sworn rivals, and he killed me. i then sold him out and put a hit on him." ] There's nothing else to do here, which meant we had all the time in the world to talk about what we were and how we'd like to conduct things moving forward.

It doesn't always work, and I'm bad at talking. Our personalities are complete opposites, and we're both stubborn. But we're trying, you know?

Trying is all that matters; the rest will happen if you keep at it.

That's really awesome, though. I'm happy for you, Vidar. And I'll bet it's a lot easier to date here knowing you'll both end up back in the same place eventually.

[ Knowing they won't have to say goodbye someday must make it a lot easier to actually allow themselves feelings, and to explore said feelings. (Clary also understands a little better now how he's managed to get through so many squares on his card; having someone you already trust to do some of the crazier things the Augur expects must be super helpful. Assuming, of course, most of them were checked off with his partner.) ]

Our respective chain of commands are actually at odds against each other, so I don't know how it'll work out when I get home.

But here, at least, we have each other.

[ they do have some sort of agreement with each other; and she's correct in guessing that -- a lot of the things he'll just trust mcgillis to do with him, or he's completely willing to do with him anyway. neither of them are selfish enough to assume they will fulfill everything they need for each other, so vidar's able to explore other squares with other partners and friends, too, without much fuss on either of their part.

Oh, yeah, that would definitely complicate things. But work isn't everything, right? Hopefully you can figure out some way to stay together.

No one from home, and no partner, either. [ Although she has much stronger feelings for Bellamy than is appropriate for their friendship, especially in a place like this. ] I have a friend that I feel like I can trust with anything, though, and that's just as good.

We're working on it.
