DESCRIPTION: A short-lived rune that allows a Shadowhunter to move about silently as required to avoid detecion.

Due to the angelic blood all Shadowhunters (or Nephilim) have, they are able to apply runes to their skin, the skin of other Shadowhunters, and physical objects. These runes give varied effects depending on their use. Many of them are temporary and fade over time if they are not used or retracted, while a select few are permanent. To non-Shadowhunters, they look like symoblic tattoos (which a red on Clary, as of her canon point). Most runes require activation via a stele (a twig-like tool made of a magical metal called adams) for the wearer to reap the benefits of the effects.
